All support comes from individual memberships, private donor support and bequests. The center is not open to the public as an attraction and does not receive any type of government funding. The center is in a continuous mode of fundraising and construction of additional indoor and outdoor housing.

The center is open 7 days a week and provide a 24 hour emergency helpline.
